While IBM ultimately decided to shelve the product, the lessons were numerous. It didn’t enjoy the fast wireless cellular networks we have today and modern day 802.11 WIFI didn’t exist. Simon didn’t include a web browser and apps (just called programs back then) were expensive. This was a product ahead of its time.
But all of that has changed now and the modern day smartphone has changed how we manage our lives. The speed at which we all function seems to be exponentially increasing. We’re all handling more things for more people and it’s generating a mountain of stress for many. The endless list of tasks and objects to keep track of in our home, work, and personal lives almost feels infinite, and it is therefore necessary to have all vital information organized and easily accessible. Without the right tools to provide organization and efficiency, life can begin to feel more than a little chaotic. Luckily, there is an ever expanding source of tools available that help to increase your productivity.
Since almost everyone wishes that there were more hours in the day, here is a list of several apps that I use that can help you become more organized and productive:
Sunrise
A stunning, user-friendly calendar app that is accessible to both iPhone and Android users. Sunrise harmonizes with
Pixie Technology
Pixie is a new and innovative technology that brings the physical and the digital world together by building a network of your belongings. Think of Pixie as the internet of your everything. By simply attaching a small Pixie Point (little stickers packed with Pixie’s technology) to any cherished object, Pixie can detect the item within inches and even through walls. The Pixie Points work in conjunction with a mobile app that provides a visual representation of where that item has been hiding.Gone are the days of being late for work because you couldn’t find your keys or wallet. Pixie isn’t shipping yet, but I’ve been working them on their beta product and I like what I’ve seen so far. Want to learn more, just track down Pixie for more information and details.
NoteSuite
Get all of your notes, documents, to-do’s, and other various lists cataloged in one organized notebook. Accessible for Mac and iPhone users, this app is a one stop shop for all project management needs. Deemed an "excellent software suite" by USA Today, this powerful application not only keeps all of your information in order but can also clip web pages, record audio, and arrange photos on any given page. To learn more about getting organized jot down NoteSuite.
Mint
Overseeing finances and building a savings has never been simpler. Mint’s free service allows you to manage bank accounts, credit cards, and investments in a way that makes sense. This app helps track where you are spending by allowing access to budget creation, cash flow management, and trend developments according to how money is spent. Making sure that your money really is working for you has never been clearer. See exactly where your money by opening up an account at Mint (but it won’t cost you one – it’s free).
